homeless?!

via Etsy.com

We are officially homeless! So why are we bonafide hobos? Well, let me explain...

Approximately 2 months ago, Lockheed Martin (the husband's employer) uprooted us from our sweet little home in Slidell, Louisiana and placed us in temporary living in Niceville, Florida. So the search for a new house began and we were so happy to find, within just one month, a house that suits our needs and our wants perfectly.
The catch, you say?

Yes. The catch.

The catch was that we would not be able to move into the new house until the end of July even though our temporary living contract was going to terminate at the beginning of July. This left a 3 week gap during which we would be H-O-M-E-L-E-S-S.  Oh goodness.

Enter my lovely parents.

My parents happen to own a 39 foot, fifth wheel camper trailer and were gracious enough to let us make it our 3 week home. (Thank you, thank you, thank you Mom and Dad!)  So for the next three weeks, we will be residents of good ol' Rocky Bayou State Park.  And in case you're wondering, we're not completely hating it. It's really nothing short of a little hotel room on wheels. Comfy bed...check. Cute little kitchen...check. Air conditioning...double check. And a commode...thank goodness for that!

Other than the lack of Internet access, showering in the public bathhouse, eating Lean Cuisines and take-out for practically every meal, and having the (grody) chore of dumping some...well...not-so-pleasant, um...stuff, there isn't too much to complain about. Yeah, we may be 'technically' homeless but it's more like a crazy "roughing it" adventure of sorts.  And as for the best part? We're in love and we're together. Plain and simple. :-)

  3. I know it's important to have the person you love and be together.... but.... with a July in Florida, I think the best thing is air conditioning. Okay, just kidding. ;)

  4. PS- I was having trouble posting that comment using my google account. You might want to clear your computer's cookies. I had the same problemo before, and that fixed it.

  6. Great blog! You're so creative. I've become a devoted follower (that sounds kinda creepy). Anyway, I think you've inspired me to create a blog as well...still haven't fully decided to do it or not though.

  7. You should definitely create a blog...you certainly have LOTS to blog about! Let me know if you ever do. A good place to start is on Blogger (the link is at the very bottom of this page).

  8. Ok. You've convinced me! And I checked out the shabby blog site. Those designs are just to cute to resist! I started writing a book while we were in Thailand. Guess that's a good start! Thanks so much....and I should warn anyone reading my blog that there will be much to read...I am a never ending story and of course love to chat!
